Égalité, Fraternité, Laïcité follows the lives of two young Muslim women and an activism for equality in sports in France whose passion for sport collides with the country’s strict interpretation of secularism. As France enforces its ban on religious symbols in sports, these basketball players find themselves forced to choose between their faith and the game they love.

Through intimate conversations and scenes from their daily training, the film reveals how the principles of equality, fraternity, and secularism are experienced by those who feel excluded in their name.

This journalistic short documentary captures a moment of deep social tension in France, portraying the strength of women who continue to claim visibility, identity, and belonging in the public sphere.
